chinese woman

The background is the paper that i dyed yesterday, tonight i painted a chinese girl in oil paint over the top. i mounted the dyed rice paper over canvas board so it would be stiff. the pattern looks really cool. i think i will do a few more of these type of things as i have plenty of paper to choose from!

dyed rice paper

today i dyed my paper with different coloured inks... i did about 18, and i am going to paint chinese women ontop of them - kind of like what i did for the red rice paper, but now it is a pattern. it was kind of like tie dye!

chinese friday

$7 each!

lets go fly a kite! then paint a chinese woman, then do ceramics.

amanda flying a unicorn kite!
not very good :(
my chinese lady
This is my pre- drawing on white paper. so i could copy her onto the gold leaf rice paper without making a mistake
what she looks like after! the paper wrinkles but after i mount it onto a harder paper or wood panel it will be smooth!
my chinese work area
a better photo of the chinese man
my ceramics, its an orange ( i am going to paint it like a cut open orange, and then it puts fruit inside!

chinese painting on rice paper

this is rice paper the teacher gave us. it is red, and those little speckles are gold leafing. we had to just do something chinesey and use the red colour however we wanted to
i decided that i wanted just the flowers to be the red rice paper showing through, so the red you see here is nothing but the rice paper, and the rest is painted in acrylic
closer photo, oh i did do some white specks in the middle of the flower but the rest is the paper
then we got a yellow antique looking rice paper - very fragile! so i painted a chinese man looking at the mountains - the chinese books come in very handy!
this is them, just showing the size of them. i will most likely mount them onto something and possibly frame then so they look nice. The end. bed time.
